Summary/Abstract: Despite the fact that the concept of femicide/feminicide does not appear until 1979, 20th century Argentine literature includes the theme of women homicides committed by men. In contrast with the 21st century literary production whose goal is to denounce femicide in society, 20th century texts lack social criticism. This article scrutinizes “La intrusa” (1970) by Jorge Luis Borges and explores the reasons why two brothers enter in emotional conflict, negotiating masculinities. Moreover, this paper investigates the motives that turn both brothers into criminals for abusing and killing a woman in the 19th century. By means of “La intrusa”, this essay studies the rivalry between two brothers and the situation of women in Argentine society from colonial times to the 20th century.
