Summary/Abstract: We intend to present Ciorans’ portrait, relieved from Arşavir’s early letters sent to Cioran, as well as from a text entitled How I met Cioran, appeared in 2011 in Toate artele revue. I didn’t include, on purpose, Arşavir’s book Eliade, Ionescu, Cioran, that would be subject to another paper. Some of the letters I found out in Aurel Cioran’s Archive in Astra Library from Sibiu. Early correspondence reveales not just the friendship between the two writers but the Romanian political and cultural life in the 30’s. Their correspondence went on for 6 decades, minus the time Arşavir had spent in jail. It is remarkable the objectivity and the accuracy of Cioran’s portrait retained by Arşavir.
