Summary/Abstract: The article restores the inner political situation in Czechoslovakia immediately after the Second World War, seeking the reasons that have led the president Edward Benesh to give in his resignation and thus to end his political career. Having in mind the fact logical material, Edward Benesh's decision seems to be not an act of personal choice (because of his healthy problems), but of political position demonstrating disagreement with the ruling of Klement Gottwald's government after the events from February 1948.
