Most of the Germans in Bukovina belonged to the Roman CatholicChurch. Between 1935 and 1938 two Nazi groups fought for infl uence supported by various organizations in Germany. In 1935,the Romanian Government closed all the state schools in Bukovina where it was taught in German.
