Summary/Abstract: Among the writers who, within the context of ultra-contemporary Spanish literature, are devoted to the elaboration of a narrative account of the current economic crisis, Isaac Rosa’s name is one of the most well-known. This is due not only to the plurality of his fictional approaches to a subject which is continuously evolving, but also to his constant metaliterary reflexion on the act of writing and the presence of reality in literature, both always declined in his works as instruments of civic resistance. The main aim of this article is a detailed observation of Rosa’s realism (which involves both realist writing and figments of reality within the fictional works) in Aquí vivió and Tu futuro empieza aquí. These two graphic novels deal with the crisis and allow the writer to imagine modalities of privateand collective action which become capable of contrasting the human cost of the great recession in contemporary Spain. The ultimate objective of the observation proposed here is to draw a map of both the realistic and imaginary features of Rosa’s writing, in order to explain and justify a definition of his style as ‘imaginary counter-realism’.
