Summary/Abstract: The article presents an analysis of Dimitar Petkov’s texts published in his newspaper project the Svirka. Political humour pervades his political writings. His satire combines the intelligent awareness of the ordinary man and the courage to maintain a position in the political and public life. His newspaper reflects current issues and problems, parodying some of the society morals and political figures. Dimitar Petkov depicts Bulgaria with its sheepish patience, its acceptance of the numerous compromises with people's honour and conscience and its indecisiveness.
