CONTRIBUȚII LA CERCETAREA MODULUI DE FUNCȚIONARE A BRESLEI OLARILOR DIN ZALĂU
Contributions to the Research of the Way of Pottery Guild’s Working in Zalău

Summary/Abstract: Together with the field researches and the ones in the collections, the research of the written documents was always an important source of the ethnographic research.The paper is based on the research of calculations of the Hungarian potters’ guild inthe town Zalău between 1722-1826. The examples taken from one notebook, besidesthe fact it informs us on the economical situation in the period, contains a series of important data concerning the way of working, priorities and concerns of a corporation based on the mutual help, on the respect for the moral Christian values.The notes referring to the borrows, to the payment matters suggest us that despite thepotter’s hard work, the craftsmen experienced often financial matters. Also, the annual balances show us that the guild prospered during this period, succeeding not only to survive but also to progress, making important investments. The increase of the craftsmen’s number is another proof of this development.
