Summary/Abstract: As any cultural institution, the Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania has experienced over the time a continued evolution, both concerning the sizes and the ways of administration of the patrimony and concerning the methods and ways of valorisation of this patrimony. In the present paper we try to present the main directions of development worked out by the Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania in the first decade of the 3rd millennium concerning the making of its fundamental missions: the “inner” one that refers to acquisition and preservation of the cultural patrimony and the “external” one concerning the multiple ways of the patrimony valorisation.
