Summary/Abstract: The article highlights and illustrates synthetically the route followed by the anthropomorphic statuette ever since its appearance as one of the first human symbolic artifacts, the evolution and the cult rolesthat it has had in different historical and cultural areas. Another aspect approached is thedimensional and stylistic evolution of the anthropomorphic representation from thesmall-size one, the pendant “wearable” amulet, to the medium-size statuette populating the altars and the places of worship, until the large-size statuary representation destined for the large central spaces inside the human communities, because around the statuette took place the most important specific ritual moments.
