Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the understanding of the poetry of Muse Ćazim Ćatić in the literary-historical and essayist work of Midhat Begić. Ćatić is a turning-point figure in the development of modern literary practice in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in Bosniak literature, while Begić is one of the authors who gave a particularly important contribution to the development of modern Bosnian-Herzegovinian Romance Studies, but also a key contribution to the establishment and promotion of contemporary Bosnian Studies. Begić approaches Ćatić primarily as a scholar in Bosnian Studies, but also with his Romance Studies experience, which is why Begić's reading of Ćatić's work is both an intracultural and intercultural interpretive act, but also a kind of emancipatory gesture, taking into account the formerly officially unrecognized status of Bosnian-Herzegovinian and Bosniak literature.
