THE PROCESS TO THE COMPARTMENT OF THE DEMOCRATE PARTY AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE NATIONAL PARTY

Summary/Abstract: The division of the Democratic Party, in other words the intra-party reckoning, had emerged in the early years of its establishment. During this period, the internal party struggle that began to form around experienced politicians such as Fevzi Çakmak, Kenan Öner and Osman Bölükbaşı spread to the entire DP within a very short time. In particular, the DP Istanbul Provincial Congress, which convened on 17 - 19 January 1948, was the scene of harsh discussions. After this congress, the extremes in DP started drifting away from DP July 12 Declaration, the collusion allegations between Ismet Inonu and Celal Bayar, over-intimacy between opposition and government. As a result of these divisions, the National Party was established in 1948 to serve as a third party in the Assembly.
