Summary/Abstract: Purpose of Article. The goal of the research lies in the study of different routes of pedagogical activity of Dmitri Semenovich Tchaikovsky, in Kiev National University of Culture and Art, to which the director and tutor has dedicated more than 40 years. Methodology of the research is based on the systematic and informational approach. Scientific Novelty. The innovation of the committed research is based on the first-time analysis of the pedagogical activity, of an experienced practitioner in theatre directing and professor of Kiev National University of Culture and Art - Dmitri Tchaikovsky. No one has yet attempted to study the individual pedagogical approach of the professor. However, that kind of approach is important for comprehending pedagogical methods of work and tutoring on directing courses, as well as understanding the general theory of directors’ pedagogical practice in the fullness of its manifestation within Ukraine. Conclusions. Dmitri Tchaikovsky united in his pedagogical practice traditions of Ukrainian music and drama theatre, which he loved and knew very well, searches of young modem directing approaches, which he was interested in, and a full freedom with an appeal to artistic and experimental search. The pedagogical activity of the master was based on the personal experience of the director, and the theoretical aspects were applied in the additional context. As a tutor, Tchaikovsky was treating the own student’s artistic searches with interest and respect, giving them full freedom to express their skills and ideas.
