EVALUATION OF THE INTERMODAL FREIGHT TRANSPORT IN TERMS OF TURKEY

Summary/Abstract: The logistics sector, which is an important criterion in determining the development levels of countries, has an important share in the service sector today. This sector in Turkey is not yet perceived as freight sector is developing in its current form. However, taking into consideration the geographical position of the country, with the development of international trade, the activity in the logistics sector has been noticed in recent years. Logistics covers the entire range of services from the starting point of the raw material to the final point of final consumption. In this process, transportation services are of great importance. The choice of mode of transport necessitates the choice between shorter shipment or longer but lower cost methods.
