Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is a reflection on the notion of confessional diversity based on the analysis of a corpus consisting of the speeches delivered by Pope Francis on the occasion of his recent visit to Romania, from May 31 to 2 June. The present paper is an attempt to illustrate the unique and deeply Christian way in which the confessional diversity in Romania was approached in the papal speeches, lexically highlighted by accurate terms, semantically related to the nouns unity, brother (respectively brotherhood) and pilgrim (pilgrimage). So as to better reveal the way in which the confessional diversity was expressed, the discourses of Patriarch Daniel, on the occasion of the two meetings in Bucharest, May 31, between the head of the Romanian Orthodox Church and the hierarchs of the Permanent Synod and the Sovereign Pontiff, will be analysed in parallel.
