Summary/Abstract: We live in a society where volume, freedom of movement and speed are the main benchmarks for the development of individuals. Every day, people communicate, meaning that they exchange information. For this purpose, people use different means, some of them called “mass media” or “media”. Communication has a lot of meanings, a lot of purposes and about as many ways of expression and manifestation. The most trivial information takes additional meanings depending on how we use it (in what context we place it, the tone we use, etc.). Information has the role of revealing current events, being the basis of the media system. We turned our attention to the way in which different forms of irony are used in radio to produce an enunciation so that we understand something other than what is said. At the center of our concern is the section “Baba burns and the country is boiling” from Viva Fm radio in Romania, which is addressed to an informed (educated) public, able to understand the hidden meanings of the radio message. At the same time it is important that the journalist has knowledge in different fields and also a critical mind.
