Summary/Abstract: The work Diversity and Identity in Radu Mareş’s novel, When We Return, aims to highlight the way in which the essential dimension of the life of Bukovinians from the 1930s to 1940s was viewed and interpreted, when the times began to turmoil again. We turned our attention to Radu Mareş’s novel, because it goes beyond the pale veil of politics and fiction, and penetrates also into the peasant’s intimacy, not only in that of the intellectual, surprising physical and mental disturbances that lead to a true representation of reality Bukovina of those times, an area characterized by ethnic diversity, by (in) confessional and inter-ethnic tolerance, by multilingualism and pluriculturalism.
