Summary/Abstract: The position of witnesses and the discursive variety of (testimonial) documents represent the poetic specificity of the historical novels of the Croat and Bosniak writer Feđa Šehović. By relying on chronicles (especially the Franciscan chronicles) as the dominant type of documents in the construction of literary worlds, Šehović joins the corpus of writers who, with their chronicle-like narratives, are complementary to the work of Ivo Andrić. The aim of this paper is to examine the typological characteristics and function of chronicle records in Šehović’s historical novels.
