Summary/Abstract: Scenic value is one of the most important criteria contributing to the value of residential and recreational property. This study describes the impact of selected methods for estimating the scenic value of landscape on the results of property appraisal. The ArcGIS 9.3.1. software package was used to conduct research and present its results. Linear interpolation was used to develop a classification map of scenery attributes. Scenic value maps were developed for Wejchert’s impression curve and the direct comparison method. The obtained results were deployed in a practical valuation of plots designated as recreational land under the local zoning plan. In the final part of the study, the results were compared to determine the impact of the selected estimation method on the appraised value of property.
