Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to study the characteristics of the hero in the Ukrainian game television series of the beginning of the XXI century, the analysis of the types of heroes taking into account the theory of archetypes, since the study of the archetypical principles of heroes’ images makes it possible to demonstrate in a new way the meanings that the scriptwriters and directors put into their works, with the help of which the writers reach reality in the series. Methodology. The study is of an interdisciplinary nature, historical (diachronic), comparative (synchrony), and also systemic approaches are used. Scientific novelty of the work. The article first attempts to analyze the problem of the hero on the example of the Ukrainian domestic TV series. Conclusions. Ukrainian television series beginning of the XXI century. On the screens of the characters with romantically colored moods and impulses, confident in further events. With all the difference of images and themes, methods and techniques one of the keys for the domestic television series of the XXI century remains to the collective subconscious, folkarchetypal, from where all changes originate, where all the old, reborn heroes and motifs originate. Archetypes do not just remain in life, in our present reality, they find themselves in the new art based on tradition. Individual (author’s) archetypical images, which are the product of the authors of the TV series scripts, are predominantly complex. The author of the script of the series chooses a collective subconscious image that meets the requirements of individuality and correlates with the current situation. It has been established that the construction of a television serial image is due to the hypothesis of television viewers. The main features of each type of hero are considered, the specificity of their implementation in modern Ukrainian TV culture is traced. It is proved that when choosing a hero, the author’s vision of the screenwriter is superimposed on the archetypical content of the unconscious, on those aspects that are relevant at the time of individualization. It is noted that the search for the heroic is always connected with the search for the meaning of what is happening at a particular historical moment. It was stated that the heroic image is not only the central element of the embodiment of the authors of the television series but also a projection of the real life of contemporaries.
