Summary/Abstract: The study deals with an analysis of a structure of land management in Lublin region in 1996–2002 taking into account specific natural conditions of Biała Padlaska, Chełm, Lublin, and Zamość subregions. Statistical data from WUS and GUS (regional and main statistical offices) helped to evaluate changes in land management. The structure of land management in Lublin region is greatly determined by natural conditions. Communes of former Biała Podlaska and Chełm voivodeships are characterized by the lowest indices of agricultural production space quality (62.7–67.6), while former Zamość voivodeship – by the highest (85.3). Significant dispersion of farms has been characteristic for agriculture in Lublin region. The share of agricultural lands area decreased as opposite to forests and other grounds (out of the agricultural) in land management structure within studied period. Instead, large wasteland areas appeared in a landscape. Structure of main crop groups also changed: cereal-grown areas increased, whereas areas under potato and root crops cultivations almost two-fold decreased.
