Summary/Abstract: The Czech National Bank Responds. We are delighted to be able to publish an article by Oldřich Dědek, Vice–Governor of the Czech National Bank. Mr. Dědek wrote his piece in reaction to an article that we printed last time round, which was highly critical of the performance of the Czech central bank. We appreciate the fact that Mr. Dědek took the time to compose a response to our criticism and hope that it will provoke discussion and debate on the vital role that this important but sometimes invisible institution plays in our daily lives.
