Summary/Abstract: The study “Diplomacy in the European Union: Europeization as factor of changes of diplomatic methods” analyses the impact of the European integration process on diplomatic system within the EU. The process of Europeization in diplomacy can be observed in three separate dimensions, which corresponds to the three chapters of this work. In the fi rst part, attention is paid to the bilateral diplomacy in relations among the EU Member States. It is argued that bilateral diplomacy had to modify some of its traditional functions as a result of integration, and, at the same time, new tasks concerning European agenda were added. Consequently, bilateral diplomacy continues to be important as a diplomatic method in the EU. The second chapter of this work is focused on multilateral diplomacy at the EU level, which is specifi c particularly due to the important role of non-state actors. There are also relatively strong supranational and institutional interests infl uencing diplomatic process within the framework of bodies and institutions of the EU (Council of the EU in particular). In the third chapter, relations among the EU and external actors are analyzed. It is argued that Europeization gave birth to the so-called European diplomacy, which can be considered as a specifi c diplomatic method. It is based particularly on cooperation and coordination of diplomatic activities of all EU members and actions of some EU bodies (European Commission in particular) in relation to third states and international organizations.
