Summary/Abstract: In the battles on the 13th day of the war for the throne of the kingdom between Pandavas and Kauravas is killed Abhimanyu, the son of Arjuna, one of the Pandavas. The proposed excerpt from the poem describes the end of that day, at sunset, the battlefield and what is happening there. A closer look on the structure shows a clear ring composition as it is present in other epic traditions. The episode is considered also on the grounds of the Indian esthetic theory for the emotions (rasa) – which ones are used in the text and how their combining brings the text closely to a gothic mood very similar to its European counterparts.
