Summary/Abstract: Roma people represent the second biggest ethnic minority in Romania. In this country, as anywhere else in Europe, they face many prejudices, stereotypes and social representations which stigmatized them, and very often exclude them from the different society areas. School being the first socialising authority, we wished to focus our study on inclusive education. Girls, way more marginalised and with a higher score of school drop-out than boys, are at the heart of our research. More specifically, this analysis points out difficulties that school professionals may experience to include young Roma girls. Through interviews with the school professionals, association staff, politicians, and with Roma and non-Roma children from the city of Craiova, this research provides key reflections. It aims at revealing the issues and tension that may exist between the Roma community and the rest of the non-Roma people in the Romanian society. Social representation, resistance to change, and school inclusion concepts are studied, to submit recommendations in the aim to tend towards a longer period of schooling for girls.
