Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to make a brief analysis of the popular existing cultural models in use. It starts by analysing the prerequisites of the very existence of a cultural model (why do people need models, what is culture), and continues by taking a closer look at existing ideas. The most popular model “on the market” is the cultural iceberg, which will be described and analysed in more detail. Other cultural models are also described. The final argument of the paper is that models of culture, like cultures themselves, are continually shifting and evolving.Evolution here is not understood as progress, but as change, according to the ever-changing environmental factors surrounding any given organism or culture.
