Drama and Acting Space

Summary/Abstract: The essay attempts to clarify the relationship between the dramatic text and the scene (in both theatrical and fictional sense of the word) with respect to the rather diversified historical evolution of this relationship. The author comes to the conclusion that the complex concept of the acting space is a very important aesthetic complement to the dominant perception of space of everyday life in the given age. This concept offers an equilibrium within the conventional perception of time and space, which is an essential function of art in general.
