Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the research is through the study of the manifesto of the founder of futurism, Philippe Marinetti, to reveal the nature of the new cultural and artistic direction and to indicate its significance in the European cultural space of the early twentieth century. Methodology. The methodology of the study consists in application of comparative-historical, biographical and psychological methods. Scientific novelty. Taking into account the investigated historiographical and source base, it was possible to determine the latest approaches to the question of the origin and nature of Futurism, which made it possible to broaden the notion of the objects and subjects mentioned in the work. Conclusions. The emergence of futurism became a wave that first shook the Italian, and subsequently the European and Russian cultural and artistic spaces, having forced to think about the problems of preserving universal values and developing new ways of developing world culture.
