Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the paper is to identify the features of street art as a phenomenon of contemporary art and to distinguish the key characteristics and basic forms: graffiti, murals, tags, stencils, performance, happening and flash mob. Methodology of research. The research uses general scientific methods. To study the features of street art, the analysis of scientific sources and the synthesis of scientific approaches have been used. During the study, the general features of street art are defined. The method of concretization allowed to highlight some areas of street art. The scientific novelty of the work consists in the study of the essence of street art as a modern type of postmodern art. Conclusions. The last two decades show an increase in interest in street art, the scope of which is not limited to the creation of graffiti. Street art is heterogeneous, since it can distinguish two traditions: conventionally Anglo-American and European (or continental). Modern street art is oriented not so much to the future, but to the present. The specificity of this type of creativity is that the artist understands the temporality of his work. Street art is little tied to stylistics and technology, its main feature is the focus on direct dialogue with the viewer and the environment. In the last decade street art has changed dramatically. Earlier, the city was "decorated" with chaotic inscriptions, made in a hurry, and now more and more you can see the magnificent murals, which tell amazing stories about the life and culture of society. Prospects for further research are to identify the features of street art at the regional level, in particular in the largest cities of Ukraine.
