Summary/Abstract: The present study primarily aims at delimitating the elements of noise as a perceptual object and of the phenomenon whereby noise masks speech. Secondly, it aims at drafting a taxonomy of the noises and an inventory of the effects of noise on the verbal flow. We use a complex meta-analytic, observational and comparative method. The influence of the noise on the understanding of reality is illustrated with elements from I. L. Caragiale’s comedy “Conu Leonida față cu reacțiunea”.
