Summary/Abstract: The article focuses around important issues of family and crises which contemporary family must face today. Those very important and difficult issues weigh heavily on the functions of a family. More and more often crisis situations appear in families. It is very important to be aware of what may threaten family happiness, to be able to intervene at the right time, and to stop development of negative situations. In the first part of the article I would like to remind you of the definition of family and the different types of families. In the second part I present these phenomena, which may contribute to crises in the family, for example: smaller number of marriages, the greater number of divorces, the emancipation of woman, emigration, migration of one or both parents, poor income, family violence, alcohol dependence, substance abuse, or workaholism, as well as an excessive pursuit of money and the desire to become successful; which may lead to forgetting one’s duties of family. These are just some examples of the negative events which impact the proper functioning of the family. With these issues I aim to show how important these problems are and how many areas of human lifethey are affecting.
