Summary/Abstract: Family active involvement into school and community leads to social participation, i.e. parents participating in formal and informal processes of self organization raising educational process efficiency and improving living conditions in the environment. Elicitation of a family in institutions makes the whole community of parents to co-decide on the important areas of children-students education and upbringing as well as on operational methods of educational institutions. Despite the obvious advantages, mobilizing parents to participate in school life encounters numerous difficulties. Therefore, teachers or rather strategies used by the pedagogues, play a very important role in animating parents’ activity. The presented study seeks to answer the following research problem: What strategies are used by teachers in order to activate parents in the school? Four main strategies used by teachers were singled out based on narratives of both head teachers and pedagogues from primary schools located in rural areas of Podkarpacie voivodship as well as on parents councils’ representatives and randomly selected parents whose children are educated in these institutions. They are as follows: selecting leaders, strengthening the organizational basis of parental authority, organizing parents communities around specific issues and partnership development. The study also shows the extent of these acting modes as well as identifies the limitations of the adopted solutions.
