Summary/Abstract: The teaching of English through literature has become a central component and source of the language curriculum as well as a crucial aim of English instruction. Literature has always been an important element in the Israeli English curriculum emphasizing its importance, highlighting its usage as a tool in teaching English as a second or foreign language and stressing its ability to teach critical thinking. Yet despite all the updated English Literature Program Reforms, the specific guidelines, the instructions and the strategies on how to teach English through literature, Israeli teachers are still facing difficulties when teaching English literature in class.
