Summary/Abstract: The recent paper addresses the important issue about regional strategic alliances in tourism. The conceptual part of the paper presents a review of the literature about the essence of the regional alliances, their functions and possible benefits for the destinations and the region. Using the method of typologisation, the author makes an attempt for developing a typology of the tourism alliances depending on their structure and types of partners in the alliance. After reviewing the successfull practices of the developed countries, as well as Bulgaria and Kazakhstan, the paper finishes with some suggestions for future development of this model for regional partnership.
