Summary/Abstract: Migration and ageing are demographic phenomena with a significant regional dimension and in their interaction territorial characteristics are formed that can be defined as a negative demographic balance. Villages in Bulgaria are a typical example of ongoing negative demographic processes.Politicians in their campaigns very often speak about the challenges, faced by the people who live in villages. Thus, it looks like that they take in consideration their problems. Furthermore, there are strategies, regarding the underdeveloped rural areas both on European and on national level. Nevertheless, the data and the studies indicate that there isn’t an improvement in the living of the people in the villages.There are various studies on the indicators, regarding the performance of the villages and rural areas and these are rather significant studies. Nevertheless, we believe that it is also important to know what the people from the villages think about their condition as regards to their living, their role as citizens and their participation in elections
