Summary/Abstract: Scholarly research is a critical step in the process of socialization of cultural heritage. The weak scholarly integrity poses a serious threat before the successful socialization. The paper provides an overview of unscientific and unscholarly conduct in the field of cultural heritage, such as fraud, hoaxes, deviant publication practices, impact factor manipulation, plagiarism, etc. There are also discussed reasons and effects of such conduct as well as possible remedies are suggested.
