Summary/Abstract: Around the world, the last decades have witnessed extensivechanges. The process of globalization and a greatcultural openness and tolerance have triggered the assumptionof certain models, sometimes insufficiently absorbedor totally unsuitable for the current situations. Thedebatable effects of such processes are more visible when itcomes to issues regarding architecture. This is, in fact, whatarchitecture is called for – to point its finger to the performancesof the society being depicted, to bring them to thestreet, in plain sight. The changes, which the Romanian society has gonethrough, are directly mirrored in the built environment. Priorto introducing the recent architectural performance, weshould consider the context in which this is imbued or, betterto say, the cultural source that is feeding the emergenceof the spatial structures classified as architecture. We believe the educational, economic, political or administrativesystem is responsible for the huge urban flubs encounteredat every single step. But we find ourselves on theiron rod-ruled land of the architect. He gives a definition forbeauty in the ordinary. It is the architect who creates thesymbolical space and suggests behavioural models thatthe user adopts in order to use the newly shaped space. And this process involves the responsibility of the architectand the accuracy of the models being recommended
