Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the results of research into the differences and similarities in terms of personal factors, economic results, as well as psychological operating costs in business between women and men. Among subjective factors, personality traits were considered as was self-opinion. Psychological operating costs were assessed on the basis of perceived workload, the psychological cost of labour and the presence of negative symptoms of mental and physical health. The general conclusion drawn was that entrepreneurs of both sexes do not differ substantially in terms of personality traits (with the exception of conscientiousness and self-opinion) However, there are distinct differences in the area of psychological operating costs in business (women display more negative symptoms of physical and mental health than men).
