Summary/Abstract: This article makes a theoretical analysis of different health systems in Europe, in order to draw conclusions about the advantages and disadvantages of each system. The mechanisms by means of which funds are generated and allocated in the European health systems are extremely complex and vary from one country to another. In all the European countries governments are involved un the financing of healthcare; most member states use a mixed system between the contributions to social security and direct governmental financing of health. With respect to private insurances, they represent rather a supplement than a substitute of the main health system. Charter of European Pharmacy pleads for the ethical model of pharmacies open circuit and is a document model for both EU Member States and the candidate countries.
