Pavlo Matsenko’s composer-editorial activity: preservation the traditions of national choral art in Ukrainian western diaspora

Summary/Abstract: Purpose of the article. Research of composer-editorial heritage of a musicologist and composer of western Ukrainian diaspora Pavlo Matsenko (1897-1991), which is a valid component in the structure of his activity aimed at preservation of national musical art. A methodology of research consists in the use of sources, theory and music for study and analysis of archive records, artistic and theoretical analysis of choral heritage of the composer. Scientific novelty of research consists in musical and theoretical analysis and introduction to scientific community little known in Ukraine composer-editorial heritage of Pavlo Matsenko, substantiation of its role in the preservation of national choral art. Conclusions. Studying and comprehension of Pavlo Matsenko`s composer-editorial heritage allows to represent the creative potential of the artist, his contribution in the development of Ukrainian music art of the 20th century and to comprehend it as the entire phenomenon.
