SPECIAL PROCEEDINGS. THE AGREEMENT ON THE RECOGNITION OF GUILT. THE APPEAL ON THE DURATION OF THE CRIMINAL TRIAL

Summary/Abstract: The new Criminal Proceeding Code implements a long-waited criminal proceeding institution, meant to simplify the criminal trial for the defendants who chose to admit their guilt and to guarantee them a known ending for their trial. The agreement on the recognition of guilt and the recognition of guilt during the trial, in front of the court, are simplified forms of the criminal trial. Also, there is another useful institution for the prevention of future convictions of Romania at the ECHR due to the unreasonable duration of trials. This institution is called the appeal on the duration of the criminal trial, it is regulated by art. 488^1-488^6 and allows the court to set a deadline during which that stage of the criminal trial must end.
