Historic Marksmen: The Key Principles and the Cutting Edge of Professional Shooting

Summary/Abstract: The history of Historic Marksmen’s’ Guilds. and their part in the contemporary life of local communities is becoming increasingly more popular. However, the power of these associations is not based on spectacular ceremonies, but rather on professional shooting. The thousand-year history of shooting organisations is intriguing and amazing. The subject literature includes extremely interesting items that present the tradition of shooting brotherhoods; yet a comprehensive study on the principles of the shooting art in contemporary formations has not been found. The aim of this study was to discuss selected aspects of shooting professionalism and the current principles of the art that are fundamental for the magnificence and elitism of shooting communities, as well as to popularise the original Polish contribution in this field, i.e. the first known spatial (three-dimensional) shooting shield with pegs.
