Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the issue of influence of macro-environment on the tourist enterprises, what translates on the condition and results of all the sector. Tourism, and within maritime and coastal tourism, is important for the all European economy: it generates great income, creates places of employment, especially for young people, makes an alternative for reducing fishing and shipbuilding activity. It has been proposed a new model of macroeconomic environment of enterprise – it has helped to organise the most important issues decided about the development of this sector in Europe and in the Baltic Sea basin. The analyse of the most important strategic documents has pointed out the chances created sustainable development of that sector and the threats for the sector. The analyses of touristic behaviour of inhabitants of Baltic Sea Region (BSR), paying special attention the frequency of tourist trips, the aims of that trips and directions of trips in the BSR, pointed out higher activity than the European average. Simultaneously it turned out, that trips to the neighbours in the BSR are relatively rarely. The solutions proposed in EU strategies seems to be the best way to develop the innovative tourist product in the BSR.
