Summary/Abstract: This paper highlights the difficulty and the complexity of maintaining a dif- ferent sexual identity in a hetero-normative and homophobic social environment. The image of the dual character of attitudes towards homosexuality as well as the conse- quences of a public expression of different sexual identities is presented. In such a so- cial milieu, shifting of possible sexual identities (heterosexual, bisexual, homosexual) comes as a necessity for many homosexual Serbs in order to preserve their social and economic position in the society. In addition to given accounts, the author reflects upon the role of the Internet as the main means of communication to be utilized in or- der to contact other members of the homosexual community.
