Summary/Abstract: The study reflects upon the position of Poland in the region of Central and Eastern Europe and concentrates on Polish-Slovak relations. It analyses both the active approach of Polish diplomacy to integration processes in Central and Eastern Europe, i.e. the approach which has won the support of the population majority, and Poland’s effort to formulate its own civilisation message in the region. The study examines the extent and character of support provided by Poland to its neighbours, especially to Slovakia, in their integration efforts. Analysing Poland’s activity in the region, the author characterises Poland as a regional power.
