Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to shed light on quite a new area in foreign language teacher education – continuing professional development for foreign language teachers. By giving reasons and pointing out the necessity for this kind of teacher development, the author displays main theoretical considerations regarding this issue as well as the most frequent activities for continuing professional development for foreign language teachers.
