Comparative study of symbolic data classification software

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to make an assessment of statistical software usefulness in symbolic data classification. In the paper the basic concepts of symbolic data analysis are explained and symbolic data classification procedure is discussed. Statistical packages for symbolic data classification are characterized and their usefulness in particular stages of classification procedure is identified. R and SODAS packages are described more precisely due to relatively wide application capabilities.
