Application of discriminant analysis to the identification of factors determining the rate of return on the capital market

Summary/Abstract: In the paper the discriminant analysis was applied in order to choose the set of economic and financial indicators determining the rate of return on the capital market in Poland. Separate analyses were conducted for the period of rises and the period of falls of stock prices for three economic sectors. The accuracies of classification according to different splits into group were compared.
