Summary/Abstract: This article presents the changes of Russian foreign policy toward East Asia, which began during the presidency of Vladimir Putin in the second half of 2000. Author tried to answer the following questions: What were the determinants of a sharp turn in Russia’s foreign policy in the Far East? What are the objectives of Moscow’s foreign policy towards the region? How and why the crisis in Ukraine has to get closer cooperation between two hostile to each other countries? What is the interest of the Russia Federation and the Republic of China?
