Summary/Abstract: Exercising the profession of magistrate, either as judge or prosecutor, has a profound impact on civil society as well as those who appear before them. In order for the society to trust the decisions that the magistrates make and not to be accused of partiality or of improper influences in the decision making, judges and prosecutors have a duty to guide themselves according to the moral, ethical, but especially a professional compass, in the context of globalization.
