Aspects of shaping secure space following the example of a selected commune

Summary/Abstract: The main subject of the publication is preventing the risks of crime by spatial solutions and the relations between forming the space and the occurrence of the so called common crime. Safety is a value belonging to the most essential issues concerning human existence, thus the duty of the state is to guarantee safety by initiating and organising actions aiming at preventing crimes and offences and counteracting criminogenic effects. These undertakings require wide cooperation of government administration, local governments and social organizations, which is frequently forgotten. In the model of securing order and safety there is space for all the subjects. The leading role is attributed to the police, forgetting that crime is civilisation phenomenon, and the police cannot be left alone with fighting with it. Its actions must be supported and supplemented with actions of local communities and governments. The police ought to act as advisors and partners. The understanding that we are all responsible for our own safety is making the citizens realise their roles and preventing crime in the neighbourhood.
